Democracy is disturbing...

I just saw a news poll on the ABC news with Charlie Gibson. Obama leads by almost 20 points with voters who vote on issues. McCain leads by almost 20 points with voters who vote based upon attributes. My main issue here is what percentage of the country votes not based upon issues, but just about their feelings regarding someone. I just don't get it. And truthfully, it seems to me that Obama is the more charismatic of the two anyway. I am so frustrated with the election in general because I feel like we pick our leaders based upon empty promises and what we want to hear with no relation to the actual events going on in the world.
